With Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger, among others, PVH is an important company in the fashion world. And not only in the fashion world. It's also an important company for us, as it was one of the first in the retail sector to work with us. Area Manager Vanessa Jurkiewicz explains why.

Why did you start working with us?

"The world is changing. Young people today want more freedom when it comes to work. If you want to stay ahead of the competition, you have to keep up with that change and find new ways to attract staff. Temper is that new way."

In what way are FreeFlexers an addition to you?

"FreeFlexers are an addition to our permanent staff. They work in our Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger shop-in-shops at Bijenkorf and at our shops in outlet centre Designer Outlet Roosendaal. The great thing is that you can both plan ahead and switch on an ad hoc basis in case of illness, for example. There is often enthusiasm for our shifts within a few minutes already."

How come your shifts are picked up so quickly, do you think?

"Firstly, we place shifts with a slightly higher hourly rate than average, especially for last-minute shifts. Secondly, because of our culture. Being open-minded is in our DNA. 'Individuality' is not one of our core values for nothing. Every person is unique. Everyone who works with us can be themselves. That suits the mentality of the FreeFlexers. Or rather, it fits the mentality of the millennial."

How are FreeFlexers doing in the workplace?

"Good. Because FreeFlexers are self-employed, they have a high degree of independence and a positive mentality. You notice this in the interaction with customers and colleagues. They provide good service."

What do you mean by good service?

"We want to offer premium service by going the extra mile and surprising people. In that respect, FreeFlexers can really add something to our brand. They provide the right atmosphere and experience, something that distinguishes us from competitors. For example, offering something to drink or comforting the customer's child when it cries. It's all about giving your customer genuine attention. At FreeFlexers that hospitality comes naturally."

How do you ensure that FreeFlexers offer this good service?

"As soon as a FreeFlexer is chosen for a job, we give him a call. We tell them about the service we want to offer and how customers should be treated. In addition, we send a 'one pager' with things we expect from the FreeFlexer. Finally, we work with a Temper Captain, Maarten Vaessen. He is store manager of our branch at the Bijenkorf in Amsterdam. He supports colleagues, and therefore also FreeFlexers, and ensures that all noses are in the same direction and that we can switch quickly."

Do you recommend our platform to other retail companies?

"Definitely. It is flexible, the FreeFlexers have the right mentality and you know in advance who is coming. You have control over this, because you choose people based on reviews from other (retail) companies. It is also cheaper than a temp agency and you have no hidden costs that have to be paid afterwards. In addition, you have fixed contact persons within the Temper office. They are always easily accessible and helpful. I also had a face-to-face meeting with them to determine our needs. Within 20 minutes, the solutions were on the table. So fast!"
