Temper appoints new CEO

Niek van Leeuwen to step down, Maarten Zoomers to become new CEO as of 1 March

Amsterdam, NL [1 March 2024] — Temper, the Netherlands' first and largest digital platform for flexible work, announced today that Maarten Zoomers has been appointed as its new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), succeeding Niek van Leeuwen, who recently announced his departure from Temper. Zoomers will officially assume the CEO role on 1 March 2024, following a comprehensive handover period.

"On behalf of the management team, I want to thank Niek for his contributions to Temper over the last four years," said Zoomers. "We wouldn’t be where we are today without Niek’s leadership and vision."

Van Leeuwen joined Temper in 2020, successfully navigating the challenges posed by COVID-19, going on to achieve profitability, and successfully entering the UK and France markets while building out the team and maintaining a highly praised company culture.

"After thoughtful consideration, I've chosen to step down from my role as CEO to prioritise my family," stated van Leeuwen. "I am confident in Maarten and the management team's ability to uphold Temper's success. Maarten, an ideal successor, brings exceptional strategic insight, commercial acumen, operational proficiency, and strong leadership qualities. His diverse background and proven track record of achievements within Temper make him the perfect fit to lead."

Maarten, who joined Temper in 2020 as Head of Strategy & Operations, brings a commendable track record of leading diverse business units, fostering significant commercial growth, international expansion, and organisational change. Recently, he held the combined COO & CCO positions. Prior to his tenure at Temper, Maarten held key roles as Engagement Manager and Consultant at McKinsey & Company from 2015 to 2020.

Zoomers added, "I am thrilled to have been chosen to lead Temper. Throughout my tenure, I have gained valuable insights into various aspects of the business, reinforcing my confidence in Temper's solid foundation and potential for growth. Temper has an exceptional and innovative product, a strong brand, a talented team, and a great culture. I am eager to continue driving Temper's ambitious mission and serving the tens of thousands of individuals who use our platform to make life work. With a strong presence in the Netherlands and promising advancements in the United Kingdom and France, I am confident Temper is well-positioned for its next expansion phase."
