We spoke with Toine from Spoedtest.nl about their experience.
Free corona tests for travellers
The Dutch government decided in May 2021 that all travellers from the Netherlands can schedule PCR or antigen tests free of charge via Testenvoorjereis.nl. This regulation was valid from 1 July to 31 September 2021. Meanwhile, the summer holidays are over and millions of people have made use of this scheme.
Toine, Chief Marketing Officer at Spoedtest.nl: "Spoedtest.nl was one of the first companies to be connected to the 'Testen voor je Reis' (Test before your trip) platform and we have helped hundreds of thousands of vacationers. However, this did not happen without a struggle. Whereas we were still providing an average of 10,000 tests per day before the summer holidays, this became 25,000 tests per day at the beginning of July. This meant that every line in the organisation had to be scaled up and there was a high demand for staff at all locations in the Netherlands. We therefore went in search of a partner who could help us scale up flexible staff quickly, and in this we found a solid partner in Temper."
Via Temper you arrange it yourself
Toine: "The platform is very easy to use. Because we needed staff on a large scale at different locations in the Netherlands, it was nice to be able to arrange everything ourselves. We didn't have to be constantly on the phone to switch between different staffing parties, but plan everything ourselves online." Toine is also pleased with the quick and efficient contact with the account managers.
Both administrative and logistical roles
It was hard work for everyone, this can't be denied. Toine: "The tasks varied from more administrative roles, such as checking the passport, sorting out the travel advice for each country and sending the test results. But also logistical roles, such as bringing every PCR test to the lab. At peak times, 80 cars were driving back and forth day and night to get everything to the lab on time."

So suddenly a lot of people were needed for this. Toine: "By using the Temper platform, it was possible to scale up at a very fast pace and thus meet the Dutch test demand."
Spoedtest.nl was able to test 35% of all travellers from the Netherlands in the month of July. Toine: "Because of Temper's easy and flexible operation, our HR department was not overburdened with contracts and administrative hassle. This way we could continue to focus on what we do, and that is performing reliable COVID19 tests."
Declining number of tests due to successful vaccination campaign
Toine: "It is difficult to predict what the future holds. We see that the number of tests is currently decreasing compared to the summer due to the successful vaccination campaign in the Netherlands. The number of tests has decreased, so we can now handle the demand with our permanent employees. We have therefore scaled down the use of flexible staff through Temper.
However, our service is still relevant and we are still busy day in and day out. It is therefore reassuring to know that you can always fall back on a partner like Temper when the pressure and demand becomes too great for your own organisation."
