My shift/application was cancelled. Why?
Shifts can get canceled by Temper or the company for different reasons. Here are the most common reasons for each type of shift.
You got accepted for an overlapping shift
Once you’ve been accepted for a shift, any shift applications that overlap will be canceled, so you won’t be expected in two places at once.
The company no longer needs you
Companies can cancel shifts if they no longer need your help. If they cancel within the cancellation term, there are no consequences. If they cancel too late (within 48 hours of the start of the shift), you’re entitled to full payment for the hours that were scheduled.
Your total planned working hours exceed legal limits.
To comply with the Dutch Working Hours Act (Arbeidstijdenwet), Temper may cancel shifts if you exceed legal limits. For example, if you work more than 55 hours in a week or take on too many night shifts, any additional shifts may be cancelled to stay within the legal limits. This protects your health and safety.
You’ve reported being sick.
If you’ve called in sick and indicated how long you’ll be unavailable, any shifts scheduled during that period may be cancelled. You are primarily responsible for cancelling your own shifts as soon as you know you’re unable to work due to illness, but we can do this too in case it’s necessary.
Disciplinary reasons.
If you’ve accumulated multiple strikes or there’s a disciplinary issue, Temper may cancel your upcoming shifts.
