How do I add my VAT ID to my profile?
You can easily add your VAT ID to your profile. Follow these steps:
- Profile
- Account
- Payment details - click edit
- Add your VAT ID and invoice address and save them!
Don’t forget to add your invoice address, this has to match your registration with the Belastingdienst (Tax Administration) otherwise we can’t verify your VAT ID.
How do I create an account with Temper?
Getting started with Temper is quick and easy.
- Download the Temper app. You can find it in your device’s app store (Google Play or the Apple App Store).
- Sign up with your email address. We'll use this email address for notifications and to log you in.
- Complete your profile. This is your “business card”. Companies reviewing your application will see your profile, so make a good first impression!
- Apply for a shift. Browse available shifts and find one that matches your profile.
- Upload your ID and citizen service number (BSN). We need these to verify that you're allowed to work in the Netherlands.
- Add your payment details. Enter your IBAN and, if applicable, your company information, such as your VAT ID and KvK number.
And that's it! You can find both employed and freelance shifts on the platform.
What's seen as a valid ID to work through Temper?
To apply for shifts via Temper, you must be legally allowed to work in the Netherlands. That’s why we ask you to upload your ID.
We accept the following documents:
- Dutch passport or identity card
- Passport or identity card from a country within the European Economic Area (EEA)
- Dutch residence permit with the remarks “Arbeid vrij toegestaan” (“Work freely permitted”) and “TWV niet vereist” (”Work Permit not required”) in most cases. Read what permits can and can’t accept here.
We can not accept:
- Driver’s licenses: do not confirm your right to work, but may be used for BSN verification.
- Residence stickers or letters: issued by the IND during an ongoing procedure; not valid on Temper.
- Temporary documents: such as the Asylum registration card; these expire once your application or appeal is decided.
- Residence permits from other EEA countries: only valid for work within the country where they were issued.
- Certain Dutch residence permits: we cannot accept documents that require an additional work permit or where extra conditions may apply. Read more about this here.
Extra document for BSN verification
We may ask for a second document to verify your BSN (Citizen Service Number). This can be your driver’s license, for example.
Always bring your ID to the shift
Next to uploading your ID on the platform, when you arrive at your shift, you’ll need to show your ID. The (hiring) companies that need to check your documentation may view it on-site, but they cannot make a copy unless your nationality is outside the EEA.
Note that a driver’s license is not sufficient for this. Always bring your national ID card, passport or residence permit.
If you have any questions about the ID verification process, feel free to contact us. We’re happy to help.

Why is my ID rejected?
We need to verify your identity, make sure you’re allowed to work in the Netherlands, and collect your BSN. To do this, you must go through ID verification, which has two parts:
- Uploading a valid ID document
- Take a selfie for biometric verification
Common reasons for rejection
- Work eligibility
- Poor upload quality
- Invalid ID document
- Selfie issues
- Name mismatch
- You already have an account
My ID should have been accepted. What now?
If you’ve checked the reasons above and believe your ID should have been accepted, but isn’t, contact our support team for further help.
Why do I need to give my BSN?
We need your citizen service number (BSN) for both employed and freelance shifts. Here’s why.
Rest assured, your personal information, including your BSN, is securely stored and fully protected according to GDPR.

In your Profile go to My documents to upload a new document.
Why do I have to upload my ID?
To work shifts through Temper, we ask you to complete an ID check. This allows us to verify your identity and confirm that you are allowed to work in the Netherlands.
Next to that, we are legally required to register your BSN (Citizen Service Number).
ID verification process
After creating your account, when you apply for your first shift, you’ll be asked to upload your ID.
How is my information protected?
Your information is handled securely, and we ask that you share your ID only through the Temper platform and never via channels like WhatsApp.
Always bring your ID to the shift
Next to uploading your ID on the platform, when you arrive at your shift, you’ll need to show your ID. The (hiring) companies that need to check your documentation may view it on-site, but they cannot make a copy unless your nationality is outside the EEA.

What’s the minimum age to work via Temper?
You can start your Temper journey once you turn 18. Even if you're legally allowed to work earlier in the Netherlands, the minimum age to work through our platform is 18.
Not yet 18? We hope to see you on the platform soon!
What types of residence permits do we accept?
If you’re from outside the European Economic Area (EEA), you’ll need a valid residence permit to work in the Netherlands. It’s possible that in addition to your residence permit, your employer may also need to apply for a work permit. As an online platform, we’re not able to assist with that process.
Permit
If your residence permit includes the note “Arbeid vrij toegestaan’ ‘TWV niet vereist’ (Work freely allowed, no permit needed), you’re allowed to work in the Netherlands without needing a separate work permit. We generally accept these types of permits, but there are a few exceptions.
Exceptions
Some residence permits come with specific conditions. For example, you may only be allowed to work in the field or profession for which the permit was issued. Since we’re unable to verify these details or check for individual exceptions, we do not accept the following types of residence permits in any case:
- Study
- Kennismigrant (Highly skilled migrant)
- Arbeid als zelfstandige
We can’t make exceptions for this, even if there are no additional conditions for your personal situation. But, if your status changes in the future, of course we’d be happy to see you back!
How do I upload my ID?
When you create your profile and apply for your first shift, you will be taken to a page to verify your identity.
- First, we ask you to upload or take a photo of your ID on the spot. Make sure this is a direct photo and not a copy. Read here which types of ID's are accepted.
- The next step is to take a selfie (either with your phone or a webcam)
If your ID is valid and matching with your selfie, your identity has been verified. You can now continue on our platform.
The document you used is expired
If the document you use for your Temper account has expired or is about to expire, you can upload a new one in your Profile under My documents.
How do I add work experience?
You can easily add your work experience to your profile. Go to your profile in the bottom-right corner of the app and click on your name at the top of the next screen. Here, you can edit your bio and add your work experience.

Do I build up pension?
For some people, retirement may still seem far away, but you can’t start saving early enough. The earlier you begin, the more time your money has to grow, and the more you’ll be able to enjoy your retirement later on.
Read more below about pensions for employed and freelance shifts:
What does the on-time percentage mean in my profile?
Being on time is important. After each shift, the company indicates whether you arrived on time. This determines your punctuality score or ‘on-time’ percentage on your profile. A high score shows that you are reliable and take your work seriously.
Try to arrive 15 minutes before your shift starts. That way, you’ll have time to get changed if needed and get any last-minute instructions before you kick off.
If your percentage is above 89%, it’ll show up in black. If it drops to 89% or below, it turns red and clients will notice. So show up on time and keep that number looking good!
How can I add my bank account number?
You can add your IBAN yourself in your profile.
- Go to your Profile.
- Scroll down to Financial Overview.
- Select Payment details
You can use different bank accounts for freelance and employed shifts. But, both bank accounts must be registered in your name.
How can I change my bank account number?

We need your information
- your current IBAN
- your new IBAN
