When do I get paid for my shift?
To get paid, you’ll need to complete the checkout after your shift. You fill in how long you’ve worked and any breaks you took. The company you worked at reviews it, and if they agree, accept your checkout. After this, the payment process can start. This works differently for freelance and employed shifts.
For your employed shift, you’ll be paid at the earliest the week after your shift, but only if the checkout has been approved by Wednesday.
Shift date and checkout time
The exact timing depends on the following factors:
- Day of the shift
- Timing of the checkout
Please note: If you're using a Revolut IBAN for your shift payments, the transfer takes a bit longer, and you'll receive the payment on Monday instead.
Shift page
You can always find the expected payment date for your checked-out shift on the shift page.
Payslip
On every payday, you’ll also receive a payslip for the shifts that are being paid that day. If you want to learn more about how to understand your payslip, click here!
During the checkout for your freelance shift, you can choose between two payment methods:
DirectPay
If you choose this option, you’ll be paid by Finqle within minutes after your checkout has been approved. It’s the easiest and quickest way to receive your payment. Ideal, since you are not dependent on the payment by the client.
The reason why this method is so fast, is that the factoring company Finqle pays the amount in advance and takes over the debtor risk. The cost for this service is 2,9% of the total invoice amount. Read more about the DirectPay option here.
As soon as the client pays
With this option, Finqle does not advance the payment, so you’ll need to wait until the client has paid. Clients usually have 14 or 30 days, and in some cases 45 or 60 days, to pay your invoice.
The payment period starts from the moment the invoice is created. You can find the exact date and payment term on the sales invoice. Be aware that you carry the credit risk.
Debtor risk
The average payment term you see at checkout is only an indication and is not guaranteed. It can happen that a client doesn’t pay on time or potentially doesn’t pay at all. As a freelancer, you carry this risk, this is called debtor risk.
If you choose DirectPay, Finqle takes that risk off your hands. If the client ultimately doesn’t pay, Finqle loses that money, but by then you’ve already been paid. Before applying for a shift you can see if this option will be available or not.
Own invoicing
You can decide to send your own invoices (and arrange your own payments) separate from the services offered by Finqle. Important: you need to let your client know upfront that this has your preference to ensure they know what to expect. If you want to use this option please reach out to us!
